Built in the early 1960s, this mid-century Bellevue home recently underwent a kitchen and guest bathroom refresh with reverence. While the house remains a classic, intact mid-century gem, the original kitchen layout was awkward and isolated from the rest of the home. Because the homeowners frequently host dinners and cocktail parties, they wanted to reimagine a space that felt period-appropriate while meeting today’s standards.

The new design opens the kitchen to the dining room, incorporates all-new appliances, and introduces large windows that frame expansive territorial views of downtown Bellevue. The new cabinetry features crisp Apple Ply edges and rich walnut faces, staying true to the original mid-century aesthetic, while black, leathered stone countertops provide a sophisticated, modern contrast.

This palette of exposed ApplePly cabinet edges, walnut, and satin black was extended in the powder and laundry room refresh.
