Lake Quinault, Quinault, WA
Completed fall 2013
Interior remodel with exterior alterations

Design collaborator – Carol Chapman
Deep in Washington’s temperate rainforest on the Olympic peninsula, this tiny gem-of-a-cabin is located along the lakefront of Quinault, and it was lovingly renovated to preserve the charm and historical character.
The small cabin, once belonging to a violin maker, was completely remodeled keeping much of the interior character but introducing a complementary modern twist. The original wood stove was relocated to turn what once were bedrooms into a living space that faces the lake and connects to the outdoor deck. The bathroom was enlarged and modernized to include a shower.
The brilliant green color was sampled from the original paneling, and the salvaged and recomposed shelving encloses the bedrooms. Added sinks to each bedroom provide an added touch of hospitality.
Great lengths were taken to utilize found objects, windows and elements original to the cabin to keep alive its rich history and personality.
