Lil Shingle

A true collaboration between a mother and her daughters, Lil Shingle is an example of an “age-in-place” home that celebrates the contributions of family members and makes a home for family gathering. Architecture by middle daughter (and Best Practice Principal), stained glass by youngest daughter (Unique Art Glass) and art/photography by the eldest daughter give this house a heart. Modest moves and cleverly organized spaces make the home manageable on one level for the owner, with easy access from the garage, main floor primary suite with laundry and generous living spaces. A connected deck with sliding doors makes larger get togethers easy and takes advantage of amazing lake and mountain views, while a lower level ADU allows for easy guest hosting, potential rental income or multi-generational living in the future.

Several distinct landscape spaces were conceived alongside the home; a zen garden that takes advantage of a planted front yard area, a lower level firepit lounge and then a deck off the main house that takes advantage of views to Lake Washington.
