Best Practice executed a fun revamp of an existing space to bring a vibrant Mexican inspired restaurant to life. Sandia (the Spanish word for watermelon) is located along the Burke Gilman trail and features a casual eat-in dining room, plenty of bicycle parking, a covered patio along the trail and a cozy window lined bar. Bright colors paired with simple furniture, dark wood wainscotting and custom dipped (by Best Practice!) rattan light fixtures give the space a fresh, lively feel.

As you enter on the lower level, beautiful pink tile leads you up the staircase featuring a 15ft custom hanging multi-colored rattan chandelier. Best Practice designed and hand dipped the lighting elements that were combined into one installation by the experts at Fixture Design Studio.  At the top of the staircase, you are greeted by a whimsical mural by local artist Lina Cholewinski and find yourself ready to enter the main dining space. A new wood and steel arched screen separates the large room, giving some privacy between the dining area and the bar. Complemented with hanging plants from local plant nursery Boosh, the lush wall creates a beautiful spot to sip delicious cocktails and sample the handmade tortillas. Exiting through the dining brings you to the covered patio, where you can dine or relax by the fire pit and watch people stroll down the Burke Gilman.

Talented local artist Lina Cholewinski (of overall creative) handpainted the mural at the top of the stairs.
