Charlie’s Queer Books

Charlie’s Queer Books makes its new home in a funky house along a bustling street in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood. Best Practice collaborated with Charlie to transform the run down 1901 house to a vibrant, bright and welcoming space that promotes queer literature and community. A bright pink paint dip unites all the rooms on the lower level, creating a cohesive space for all the books and merchandise. A colorful counter on casters serves as a point-of-sale desk but can be rolled away to create a larger room to host readings or talks. The warm toned upper level is filled with natural light from a series of skylights and serves as a cozy reading room with spaces to hold community meetings and game nights.
