Interior design – Robert Emil Arnesen
The owners of this house loved the location and views, but wanted some substantial refurbishing and expansion to their less than perfect 80’s era home.
This dowdy house was sizable but still felt dark and closed-in, and the steep site and multi-floor house added challenges to unlocking this home ability to access and enjoy the yard and surrounding views. To alleviate these 80’s woes, a new skylight was added to the revamped, central stair in addition to a new exterior steel fabricated stairway leading to an added expansive roof deck.
A modest addition to the upper two floors majorly revived the living spaces with a third bedroom and home office, expanded kitchen, and refreshed interior finishes. New connections, internal and external, transformed the experience of living and moving about the house.
This 80s throwback just needed a few smart interventions to unlock its full potential and be enjoyed for years to come.
