When the frame is touched, the elastic gives way easily and provides entry to the cube. Inside, a box of clothes pins entices all passersby to participate in covering the tower, one pin at a time.
Using the lifeguard stand as a centerpiece, S&G is an object that slowly transforms during its lifespan on the beach and marks the passing day by revealing a glowing inner form at night. The stand is wrapped with a network of cord that forms a framework from which to hang an assortment of glow-in-the-dark clothes pins. Surrounding the tower is a frame strung with elastic cord, which creates a shroud for our lantern. Appearing solid at a distance, the form creates a vibrant, yet simple object in the snow. On approach the semi transparency of the frame offers glimpses of the lifeguard stand within.
Stretch & Glow is a giant lantern!
